Becoming an App Author – A Conversation with Troy Pressens of Study by App

Yesterday I received an e-mail from Troy Pressens. Troy is an educator who runs an app development company called Study by App that publishes apps to help students study. Troy partners with content experts who then use his free authoring system to create apps without coding. He’d discovered iPad Academy and was seeking my advice on finding talented faculty to build Study By Apps portfolio of offerings. (Did I mention my professional services include both educators and entrepreneurs?)

Today we had an enjoyable, hour long conversation about his business, app authoring and the app marketplace for education. I was impressed with Troy’s approach to the education marketplace and concern for quality products. Troy is seeking additional content experts to serve as authors for apps to support student learning. The process appears friendly, the authoring tools are free and the split of app revenue is equitable. As many of you know, being an author requires a commitment of time and effort, but the personal and professional rewards can make it worthwhile. If you’d like to learn more about becoming an app author in your area of expertise, you can reach Troy here.
