If your iPad or iPhone won’t respond after an iOS update or seems to be hung up following the update process, try these two solutions to the problem:

Hard Reset
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button until the screen goes blank. Release both buttons. Be patient as the Apple logo appears and your iPad comes back to life. You can check if the update was installed by going to Settings > General > About on your iPad.

Recovery Mode in iTunes
Connect your iPad to a computer that has the free iTunes software installed and booted up. Once it’s connected do a hard reset as described above. However, don’t release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons when you see the Apple logo. Wait until you see the Recovery Mode screen. Then choose the Update option. iTunes will attempt to reinstall the iOS, but without erasing your data. If it takes more than 15 minutes to complete, try a second time.
